Composite Decking

Composite decking is made from a mix of wood fibers and recycled plastic.

  • Eco-friendly (often made from recycled materials)

Cons:

  • More expensive than wood

Ideal for low maintenance decks in any climate

PVC (Plastic) Decking

PVC decking is made entirely from plastic, typically polyvinyl chloride.

Pros:

  • 100% waterproof
  • Extremely low maintenance
  • Lightweight & easy to install
  • Resists fading, staining and scratching

Cons:

  • Price point
  • May look less natural
  • Can become slippery when wet

Ideal for wet or coastal climates where water resistance is critical.

Considerations for Choosing your Deck Material

Budget: Natural woods like pressure-treated pine are budget-friendly, while composites and hardwoods are more expensive.

• Climate: Consider moisture, sun exposure, and temperature fluctuations in your region.

• Maintenance: Choose low-maintenance materials like composite or PVC if you want to minimize upkeep.

• Aesthetic: Wood offers a natural look, while composite and PVC provide consistency in color and finish.

• Longevity: Aluminum and high-end composites last the longest, but wood can last decades with proper care.
