• Use high-quality materials
• Properly prepare the site by compacting the base, adding a gravel layer and ensure there's proper grading to direct water away from the slab.
• Install expansion and control joints to allow the slab to expand and contract with temperature changes.
• Ensure proper pouring and finishing so the concrete is not overworked. Vibrate the concrete to avoid air pockets and level the slab with a smooth surface.
• Cure the concrete properly
• Provide adequate drainage and seal the service
• Perform regular maintenance and seal the joints with a polyurethane sealant to keep water out of control joints.
